FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
St. Paul, Va., (February 12, 2018) — MB Contractors successfully completed the historic renovation of the century old Willis Building in St. Paul, Virginia, now known as the Western Front Hotel. The 30-room hotel features a gift shop, two outdoor dining terraces, entertainment space, outdoor seating with a fire pit, and Milton’s, a restaurant run by renowned and locally raised, Chef Travis Milton.
The 26,900 SF project consisted of structural improvements, such as relevelling the floors, restoring and repurposing original materials, such as the hammered tin ceiling, wood doors and windows, and tongue and groove wood floors. Other improvements include an elevator addition, site work, and a new parking lot. The interior reflects the history and character of the town, such as an original jail cell door that can be found in the restaurant, railroad spikes as coat hangers, furniture made from salvaged materials, and original Norfolk and Western Railway items.
The Western Front Hotel caters to visitors exploring the Clinch River and Spearhead Trails around St. Paul, in addition to providing economic stimulus to the town. The project team includes the following firms:
MB Contractors, Inc. – General Contractor
Hal Craddock and Architectural Partners, PC – Architect
Interior Image Group – Interior Designer
Cornerstone Hospitality – Concept and Operations Management
Thompson & Litton – Mechanical and Electrical Engineer
