Great Time to Feel the BLUE

While constructing a segment of the Roanoke Greenway last summer, MB Contractors was planning for an access point into the Blueways for this spring! MB  provided base estimates, construction advising and fundraising support for this augmentation to the Greenways (which happens to be one of MB’s favorite things about Roanoke!) Well, folks, the funds have been raised and the ground has been broken for the latest and greatest addition to the Roanoke Outdoors: the New Kayak Launch located at the intersection of Reserve Avenue SW and South Jefferson Street, right next to the South Sixteen Apartments.

Did you know the Roanoke River Blueway is 45 miles long and travels through 7 localities?  Though you may not need to kayak or canoe that far, this kayak launch will be one of the better access points to the Roanoke River, as it is located almost a stone’s throw away from downtown.

Some main financial contributors were Carilion Clinic, UBS Financial Services, Adams Construction Company, the City of Roanoke, Lanford Brothers Company, Salem Stone Corporation, Rockydale Quarries, EC Pace, Balzer & Associates, Boxley, and MB Contractors.
